Manifesto: Keith Boyle, as Events Officer 2006-07
Nominated by Simon McVittie and seconded by Helen Lambert.
I suspect most of you know me by now, seeing as I've been on the committee the past two years as Events Officer and thus have organized all gigs and other events in that time. I believe that I have done a very good job running successful and entertaining gigs with a diversity of bands from across the metal and rock scenes (such bands as Gorerotted, Esoteric, Conquest of Steel, Esoterica and most recently Belisha). I successfully fulfilled my requirement when I was voted in last year, of losing a decent amount of money on gigs so that the society weren't so financially burdened! We may now no longer be in such a rich financial state, but gigs needn't lose money as the last gig showed (it made almost £60, something usually unheard of!).
I have the next gig already lined up, am in talks with bands for the May Brawl at the end of the academic year and have built up a solid reputation across the UK as a serious but good promoter.
I have also brought Rocksoc into the University, organizing a number of successful Rock Nights at Trinity College last year.
If I was elected I would pretty much aim to continue what I've done in the past two years and hopefully increase and broaden Rocksoc's membership base.
I will admit now that I won't be able to attend most committee meetings, mainly due to the fact that I'm going to become a parent in July and that I'm in the last year of my PhD. I believe that this wouldn't have any negative impact upon my position as I can communicate most things events-related by email.
I do hope that you will come along to the AGM and vote for me!
