CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY ROCK SOCIETY
Just when you're all sick of hearing about elections, I'm afraid I have to
inflict another one on you all. Rocksoc are holding an EGM. This will be
held on 14th June in the Alma pub, commencing at 8.00 sharp. The most
important piece of business will be the election of committee members for
the two unfilled posts. If you want to stand then start to think about it
now. Nominations must be made and seconded by two Rocksoc Members (not the
person standing), and submitted to Elise Conolly, either by email at
cec42 or by post to Newnham College, Cambridge, CB3 9DF. The
deadline for nominations is 04/06/01. Manifestos will be forwarded to
rocksoc-official and to the website by Elise. The posts available will be:
Webmaster: Maintains the society website.
Previous webmaster: Mary Chester-Kadwell, New Hall, mec31
Token Fogey: A general member of the committee who should be older than the
average student and has special responsibility for seeing that the
significant number of non-students are looked after.
Previous Fogey: Gina Dungworth, no college
Feel free to e-mail any committee member personally or collectively on
rocksoc-committee chiark.greenend.org.uk if you have any questions about
the posts. Any other motions for the agenda should be sent to Elise Conolly
by 04/06/01. Votes on motions and elections of committee members will be
determined by a majority of those present or proxy votes, votes on
constitutional changes will be determined by a 2/3 majority of those
present or proxy vote. The President does not vote but has a casting vote
to be used in the event of a tie.
If you will not be able to attend you will be able to vote by post or by
e-mail. The agenda and nominations list will be published on 07/06/01, to
rocksoc-official and on the website. If you then wish to vote by post you
should e-mail or post your votes on all agenda items to Elise by midnight
on 13/06/01. Any votes received after this time WILL NOT be counted. We
can accept no responsibility for votes sent in good time but which failed
to reach us. Anyone who submits a postal vote will not be allowed to vote
at the AGM. Only members are allowed to vote. A valid membership card will
be required to vote on the night. If there is anyone who is a member who
for whatever reason does not have a membership card, please e-mail Elise
with your full name and address and she will send one to you in good time.
The minutes will be posted to the website following the event. Anyone
without access to the Internet can request for a copy to be posted to them
by Elise.
I know some of you may be thinking that this is really boring but it IS
really important for the Society to continue to run effectively, and I hope
a large proportion of you will want to turn up on the night and / or stand
for a position.
Thank you for your time.
-- Elise Conolly Secretary
