MINUTES

07/02/00

 

Meeting opened: 2050 hours.

This meeting was actually rather disorganised,

we are sorry to report. Jinx and El Presidente were present and paying

attention. Oli was absent, presumed eating [1] and Baz was playing bass

somewhere. Iain claimed not to be there despite his physical presence and

presented a "not-there" grin for inspection as evidence. The remainder

of the committee nodded understandingly and we proceeded, with some help

from Andy H, Leigh and Oliver-Michael who were sitting round and sticking

their noses in. The agenda was made up as we went along due to Oli's absence,

explaining its rather odd nature.

1. World Domination

This item seemed popular among the non-committee

people, so it was included due to democratic principles. We concluded that

we didn't have enough members to dominate the world. Someone suggested

that we should be registered in Holland so that we could legally distribute

dope, then take over the world when it was too stoned to resist. At about

this point the president pleaded for sanity and we moved on.

 

2. Website

This was proudly proclaimed to have been updated

with the new AGM page and a corrected events list. It turned out that no-one

had looked at it. Typical.

 

3. FTOTM

The last FTOTM was underattended compared to previous

events. It was pointed out by Jinx that rocksoc has become rather cliquey

and this may be why. Most members are coming only to WUS and may not even

be aware that there are other events they can attend, and WUS has become

sufficiently crowded and impersonal that large chunks of the society are

completely ignorant of each others' existence. It was decided that we should

start publicising other rocksoc events at WUS and see if this helps.

 

3a. Rocksoc microphone

Further to the idea of publicising things at WUS

it was suggested that there should be a rocksoc microphone so that we can

make announcements over the PA. Iain is going to get one. On a related

note, Jinx is getting us some rocksoc headphones for WUS use.

 

4. Trip to LA1/2 rock night

We have missed the last available date for this

term. Jinx is going to look into alternatives.

The meeting was closed at 2109 hours.

[1] This was later misheard by SRV who accused

the president of having eaten the secretary. Cue much laughter and shouts

of "eating, not eaten..."
