MINUTES
24/04/00

Present: Oli, Baz, Andy,
Iain, Gina, Jimmer. La Presidenta sent her apologies.
After much faffing around waiting for people to arrive, the meeting kicked
off around 20:40.
1. STALL AT FRESHERS' FAIR OCTOBER 2000
We have received all the relevant information
from CUSU about booking a stall at the Freshers' Fair to be held in October
at the beginning of next term. It was decided that a small stall
would be sufficient for our needs, but that electricity would be preferable.
Cheques for both the stall and the electricity are to be written at the
next meeting (both will be refunded if application is unsuccessful).
Flyers will also need to be handed out, both at the stall and at the door
- 600 or 700 should be sufficient. Will have to find out if music
is allowed. It was generally agreed that we are to be loud and obnoxious
in order to attract new members; Jimmer's suggestion that we attempt
to be the first society to get thrown out of the fair was not decided upon.
Andy claimed to have lost one of his jazz mags.
2. FTOTM
Will be normal procedure; Iain to get in
contact with the Fresher and Firkin and promote at next WUS.
* PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MONTH FTOTM WILL
BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY 03/05/00 *
The return of the Rocksoc quiz was suggested,
and Baz and Jimmer volunteered to get one organised. It was agreed
that the first one should be held next term due to the anticipated poor
turn out this time round. Prizes to possibly include bottles of wine
etc.
3. PERMANENT HOME FOR WEBSITE
At this point I got completely lost and Iain recommended
I simply record this issue as "Totally irrelevant web bollocks which
should be left up to Jimmer and Roz." Who are promising to get in
touch with each other at some stage - Roz, if you're out there, Jimmer
would like to speak to you.
4. ROCKSOC-OFFICIAL?
Various people appear not to have been receiving
rocksoc-official. Andy promised to get on Dave Damerrell's case,
which he appears to have done as I'm receiving it now.
5. SIGNING OF CHEQUES BY THE NEW COMMITTEE
It was decided that the new committee and Iain
should all be able to sign cheques for any Rocksoc related situations.
Iain promises to bring the mandate to the next meeting to get this sorted
out.
6. GRASPOP METAL MEETING
Andy has been organising a trip over to the Graspop
festival and requested that Rocksoc chip in to help with travel expenses.
There are 17 people going, the majority of whom are members of Rocksoc.
It was decided by vote that Rocksoc is to subsidise the trip, but only
up to a maximum of 100 pounds, and with a view to subsidising similar trips
in the future.
And thus ended the inaugural meeting of the new
committee. And much merriment was had by all.
