I suppose I should really document the tea-shop crawl for
posterity, particularly since no one else seems to have done so in any
particular way.

Well, we started out in Market Square, and gradually our numbers
slowly swelled up to nine bodies, with promise of possibly two more
arriving soon. So we got to the Copper Kettle and had lunch/tea, where
Davefish managed to join us, which was nice. The effect of the sight of
two tables full of well-behaved gothy/rocky types was rather good fun,
considering that you could watch the expressions on the faces of people
noticing us for the first time from the queue extremely well where I was
sitting. Politely ignoring us seemed to be the universal choice.

So we finished there, or rather we had our rolls and sticky
chocolate cake and Tim finished his Whole Roast Dinner (mad person, he
regretted that one later), then we wandered on to PREBOOKED TEA (how cool
is that?) at Fitzbillies. I managed to have a nice cup of tea and a
wonderful Fitzbillies Chelsea bun - mmmmmmmmmm. Also managed to have
complete and utter and overboard hysterics, which contrary to popular
belief were NOT sparked off by references to the British Gas Showroom in
the electrics cupboard. I personally think it was the pixie crack, and am
blaming Alix accordingly. We also gathered a darkgoblin! Which managed to
walk past the KSR!

The list of quotes that olithered has for this particular crawl is
quite unbelievable, by the way. And lots of them are my fault. The photos
should be quite a lot of fun too.

ANYWAY - we managed to get round to the Cambridge Tea Rooms next to
the Kambar, which has nice lacey tablecloths and flowers and little sugar
bowls and EVERYTHING, including plates and bedpans on walls. More tea was
ordered, and firewoman had scones and red jam, which was highly amusing
for a short period of time. I had blackcurrent, ginseng and vanilla tea
(raaah) which for the record, Tim, did not make me horny. However, Tim and
firewoman had a great deal of difficulty driking all of their camomile
tea, complaining bitterly that olithered hadn't warned them that this
much tea was going to be in use on a teashop crawl. Well...

After that, it was about tea-shop closing time, so we pottered back
to aiwendel's room and bumped into excelsis on the way, which was a bit
awkward. I was surprised he came back with us, but he did (am seeing him
today as usual, will be nice to see him on his own). Anyway. Lots more
tea, lots of olithered piss-taking-out-of for having too much tea, quite
amusing let's-escape-the-bondage-of-my-own-top effort from firewoman (she
has amazing shoulders) and eventual exhaustion. I just wanted to go home,
get out of the purple Raven velvet thing, call my parents and go to sleep.

In general, it was a lovely tea party, and thank you olithered for
organising it, and I shall definitely be attending the Fresher's Tea Shop
Crawl next term :-)
