ROCKSOC PUB CRAWL 2000

From what I remember this was an altogether interesting evening,
although it would have been nice if some freshers had come along. The
route planned actually worked, and whilst we did meet a lot of people
at the Bath (Ale) House, they all seemed to disappear after the
Fountain. The route for those who missed it was:

7.30 The Pickerel (for the Old Peculiar)
..strange man having fights with himself in different accents from
all over the place made this first and hence soberish drinking place
pleasantly surreal. Will was worried about his hair (he spends hours
each night conditioning it) and the beer was nice.
then The Mitre (for the Entire Stout)
Lee spent a long time describing some kind of gun heist involving him,
his mates from Leicester and missing his WUS set. The Entire Stout was
nice, but the head was seriously big and needed topping up.
Discussion about dead philosophers unfortunately climaxing in the dead
philosophers song as sung by Will. We shut him up.

9.00 The Bath ALE House (cos it's central and just might have a
drinkable beer)
We ended up going to the Bath as we arrived last and that's where
everyone else was. Observed a scary conversation between Jimmer and
Keir in which one would say a name, then they would both independently
rant and curse (like pirates) for 5 minutes until they had run out of
words. Then a new name would be mentioned and they'd start again.
then The Fountain
This was fairly busy due to the tail end of the football which we
fortunately just missed, but the glass crunching under foot was quite
pleasant. I think I spent most of the time here admiring the sink (it
was a very nice old one), and looking at big chairs.

10:30 We finally ended up at The Alma ,
...this was where all the alcohol finally took effect and the real
talking began. Conversations may have included quantum phenomena, the
Guardian, whether mathematics is intrinsic to the brain, some strange
Black metal and some other stuff I can't remember which might have
included David Damerell and Oli chasing Will down the road and
capturing him as their prey. Oh and DAVE TYLER'S TEAM WON THE PUB QUIZ!
so that was good. I also noticed the way piranha scales refract and
reflect light strangely. I eventually got home about 1:30am.
