MINUTES
7/06/99
The meeting was called to order at 2044 BST –
exactly the same as last week. The entire committee was present for the
first time in ages. Also present were Deano and DJ.
1. RockSoc awards.
A couple of members had suggested that these should
be repeated. It was generally agreed that this was a good idea however
there is not sufficient time left this term. The next winterval dinner
or a party are possible occasions. There was some discussion as to whether
they should be voted upon or just made up by the committee. More next term.
2. "Alex to hit Iain in the face".
The Web Warlock had complained that he had received
"7+ emails saying the same thing" regarding the website. The WUS Officer
retaliated by saying: "he never does things". This was generally agreed
to be the case (see below). A vote was taken (the first ever by the committee):

The proposition was therefore defeated.
3. Website.
Many things still require fixing. In addition
to the above corrections suggested by the WUS Officer, the Secretary had
also tried in vain to point out things that needed doing. It was agreed
by everyone apart from Alex that the May Brawl banner was nowhere near
prominent enough (it being small and grey). He was told to get his act
together and it was proposed that he be censured on the matter:

4. APU Freshers’ Fair update.
Iain has got a phone number and it will be rung.
5. AOB.
May Brawl posters:
The Treasurer most observantly remarked
"if we’re going to do anything about it then we need to do something quickly".
It was decided that a few A4 posters of the same design as the flyer should
be produced and distributed, including one outside The Locomotive. It was
noted that although not all that pretty, the design (produced by the WUS
Officer) was very informative and perfectly serviceable. The supposedly
artistic Web Warlock had so far failed to come up with any posters for
anything. The WUS Officer was praised for all his hard work.
6. AOOB.
"What you’ve actually done":
The old secretary suggested that each week it
should be stated what the committee had actually achieved, in order to
give the membership some idea as to whether or not all that was recorded
in the minutes was getting done or not.
There followed much "I’ve done…" which is summarised
below:
WUS Officer - designed the May Brawl flyers
sorted the WUS DJs for the
summer
got attacked by a tree
Treasurer - written a cheque
Secretary - posted out 40ish May Brawl flyers
done the minutes of the last meeting
La Presidenta - promoted APU rock night
had emotional crises
Web Warlock - tweaked the website (well sort of)
also had emotional crises
tried to persuade other engineers to commit suicide
Whether or not this should be continued was not
decided.
The meeting was closed at 2058 BST; all the above
occurred in only 14 minutes.
