MINUTES
1/11/99
The meeting was called to order at 2049 BST when
it was decided (by the Token Fogey) not to wait any longer for the WUS
Officer.
1. Price of the gig (X-Fest).
It was agreed that the price should be as small
as possible (and lower for members), although in order to cover (part of)
the cost of the Portland Arms, the bands and the events insurance, some
charge should be made. In the absence of the WUS Officer, £2 (£1
members) was provisionally agreed upon.
2. Webs(h)ite.
La Presidenta assured us that it would continue
to be improved and that there was no need for us to get a separate webthing
to do it. DD is apparently still working on removing the popup banner.
Also, it was suggested that (MP3) samples of the X-Fest bands be put up
for people to listen to. A few locations were suggested, but in the end
it was agreed that it was better to link directly to samples on the bands’
websites (and also the websites themselves).
3. Events insurance for the X-Fest.
It was agreed that Baz should sort this out, and
do so immediately. Iain needs to be asked how much we should insure it
for. Kit pointed out that "Endsleigh are arses" and advised us not to use
them.
4. Brumfest numbers/flyers.
We were informed that 25 "tickets" had been sold
so far. It was agreed that more would probably be sold, although we may
not quite fill the coach, although this was not a problem. It was noted
that at the last WUS, Jinx (an old person who many new members did not
know) going round asking people if they wanted to buy a small piece of
paper was a bit dodgy. The Secretary is to sort out obtaining the proper
tickets ASAP.
At 2101, Andy gave the Secretary a very big and
very nice Sainsbury’s cookie.
Shortly afterwards, Horrocks came out with: "it’s
the first time that I’ve seen Oli in trousers since June".
This was followed by Kit saying something about
the committee not being arsed.
5. Publicity for November.
Jinx was then laughed at for talking to people
who weren’t there ("Hello Iain…"), as it was wondered whether the WUS Officer
had done the X-Fest flyers yet (so that they could be posted to non-email
members).
It was agreed that the Secretary should send details
of the FTOTM to email members, and also email the Freshers Fair list about
WUS, FTOTM, Brumfest & X-Fest.
The meeting was closed at 2106.
ADDENDUM:
Iain arrived at 2110, and informed us that he
had got the X-Fest in the local paper, with the price advertised at £3.
Therefore it will be £3 for non-members and £1 for members.
He said that flyers would be done the next day and it was decide to include
Brumfest flyers in the mailing.
