Message-ID: <Pine.SOL.4.21.0101211546330.10608-100000@red.csi.cam.ac.uk>

Present: Oli, Jimmer, Andy, Baz, Roz, Liz. The meeting was called to order
by Oli at 2045.

1/ MARILLION

The band has now been confirmed to be playing the Boat Race on the 22nd
February. Andy has dealt with both the band and the pub over the holidays
and it has been arranged that the Boat Race will be selling about 100
tickets and so will the Society. Despite rumours to the contrary, the Boat
Race has not already sold out of tickets. Tickets will be available from
Andy - prices will be £2 for members, £3 for other students, £8 for
everyone else. Andy is still waiting for word from the band concerning
support acts, but everyone will be relieved to know that Fire and Forget
will not be performing. It was agreed that lots of publicity will be
necessary. Baz is to speak to Varsity, The Cambridge Student, Kerrang!,
Terrorizer etc. Jimmer agreed to cycle round all the colleges to
distribute posters. Andy is to organise flyers for WUS, an A4 poster that
Jimmer will blow up and an e-mail for announce.

2/ BEDOUIN

Andy has also got some dates from the Boat Race on which they are willing
to let us have the pub in order to put on Bedouin later in the
term. Prices will be the same as for Marillion. The deal with the pub is
that we pay them £250 and we take ticket money. Dates are either
1st/8th/15th March, and Andy is waiting for the band to reply to
him. Publicity will be the same as for Marillion.

3/ PEACEVILLE

There is a Peaceville all-dayer in Bradford at the beginning of March. The
bands appearing will be My Dying Bride, Katatonia, Sounddisciples, Beyond
Dawn and Thine. There has been considerable interest from the membership
and so we are going to organise a coach trip. Andy is going to e-mail CUSU
about the loan of minibuses, and Rocksoc will help to fund the exercise.

4/ AGM

Various options were suggested for the location of this year's AGM. On the
CUSU website there are advertised various rooms which can be hired by
University societies for free; the AGM was held at King's two years ago
and people bought their own beer. It was mentioned that the Alma and
Fresher and Firkin are not suitable venues. The meeting will be held
towards the end of term, and we must give the entire contactable
membership four weeks notice. This unfortunately (for Baz) means a
mailshot. Oli is going to look into rooms. Liz commented that she didn't
'ant it held within a week of her birthday. It was agreed that Rocksoc /
Marillion / Bedouin / Thursday Night flyers are to be put in the envelopes
with notice of the AGM (sigh).

5/ THURSDAYS AT THE Q CLUB

This is still going ahead. Everything is fine with Roger and Andy has a
format lined up (three DJs playing 'more commercial rock music'). We will
be paying Roger a similar amount to WUS, probably slightly less. We will
not be increasing WUS prices in the immediate future. We need a name for
the new night for the publicity. The Alma nights will continue on
Thursdays, as different crowds are expected to attend the different
events. Baz is to mail Chat to appeal to the masses for a name. There will
be a vote next week.

6/ WEBSITE

Various things need adding to the website - details about Marillion and
Thursday Nights, some missing minutes and the accounts.

7/ COMMITTEE CURRY

This may happen sometime.

The meeting was called to a close at 2122.
