Minutes of the RockSoc Committee meeting
29th July 2002

Present: Baz, Oliver, Elizabeth, Emma, (Oli managed to miss the meeting
entirely)

Meeting opened: 2210

1) Minutes for approval
The 'Elizabeth's amusing typos Department' pointed out a passage which
motioned the fact that RockSoc had recently replenished the WUS box after
recent unsuccessful wasps. I shall teach my spellchecker the word 'WUSs'
immediately.

Several people tried to count the number of times I had misspelled the word
'has'. No firm conclusion was reached except that it was 'a lot'.

The minutes were approved.

2) Treasurer's report

The treasurer issued the report 'Crikey!'

The treasurer has been to the bank, and reported to the committee the
discovery of a L140 overdraft. This is mostly because Rome Burns have been
sitting on a cheque for ages and have only now cashed it.

The committee has paid into the bank L130 from the WUS box (leaving in the
box the required float) and L43.01 from the events box.

The L900 expected from the Societies Syndicate has not yet been paid. Emma
has an appointment with Angela Myers of that body tomorrow morning. To tide
us over, Baz lent RockSoc L900 of his own money, which he will be repaid
when we gat the SS money

It was noted that we also owe Baz L20 for the stall at the Freshers' Fair,
and that he lent L80 to the WUS box last week.

Oli Wade has been given cheques for the balance of the Wacken money (L400)
this week. Another cheque has been written in the ongoing saga of trying to
pay Geared 4; the cheque we sent them last time having apparently gone
astray in the post/ been lost by the band. This cheque is again for L80. And
not for the 29th July.

Baz asked if the account book was up to date as promised. Oliver said that
it was not up to date per se. He also said' Yes and no'. Baz told him to do
it by next week in an imposing, Presidential manner.

3) WUS
The disk which Emma gave Elizabeth last week containing the file turned out
to be corrupt. So the flyers have not been printed, and Elizabeth has got a
big bill for toner, paper etc.

At present Emma has no e-mail access, but she will try when she can to
e-mail it to Elizabeth.

The requests system for WUS was delegated to Emma, who will cause it to work
tomorrow night :-)

4) Festivals
Wacken: Oli hasn't turned up. Everything seems to be organised, bar Oli
having forgotten to confirm the flights because he was too busy telling
everyone not to forget their towels. And shaving kit. Oli has a strange
notion of festivals :-)

Bulldog Bash: lifts are sort of being arranged. Siobhan and Ben are also
available to cadge lifts from.

Bloodstock: Oli's not here. We assume he's investigating minibuses. The
committee agreed to hire a (unsubsidised) minibus to this event. Oli is
supposed to be organising this, and if he isn't we shall write all over him
next time we see him.

5) October gig
The pop punk band haven't replied.

No one found the Positives. Richard Watts offered to phone them/speak to
them later.

ACTION: Richard to speak to the Positives.

6) Other bookings
Kit and Oliver are getting married on Friday 13th September.
Congratulations. They asked Siobhan to speak to Stan and ask the Sept 14th
gig to be changed to a private party so they can have a wedding reception.

Matt Pitts will speak to Stan this week too, about taking over one of the
other dates.

7) Freshers week
Elizabeth asked when the Freshers Fair was so she could book time off work.
No one knew. Bugger.

Siobhan will ask about the APU Freshers Fair.

ACTION: Siobhan to ask about APU FF

8) Cambridge Band Directory
Oli asked for this to be put ion the agenda for a second week. Last time he
was too drunk to remember what he wanted to say, this time he was too late.
Elizabeth said that he could have one more chance next week and then she
would take it off the agenda.

Baz will mail Oli all the band details he knows. Which is lots.

9) The Sick and The Dead
Baz now has the charity collection. He thinks he will pay it to the charity
this week. I think he will in fact be in a field in Germany.....

ON the subject of the Sick, Jester is in Addenbrooke's, having had quite a
bad stroke. The committee agreed to take a collection for him at WUS
tomorrow. Emma offered to organise this.

10) Abhorring and liking

WE abhor:
Cambus Stagecoach, who have doubled the number of evening buses on the
timetable, BUT THEY ARE ALL STILL FICTIONAL.
The person who stole Kit's wallet.

We adore:
The Alma for being nice to Kit and Oliver
Baz for lending us L900 (Motion proposed by Baz)
WACKEN!!!!!!!!

Emma says she now lives nearer the Alma Hurrah!

11) AOB
The second and a halfth commandment is: Thou shalt not worship false
monkeys.

Meeting closed 2135. 25 mins. Some sort of record?
