Minutes of the shortest ever RockSoc Committee meting
19th September 2002

Present: Baz, Elizabeth, Emma, Oliver

Meeting opened 2030

The meeting took precisely 11 minutes this week, and more than half of that was spent thinking of people to abhor. This is due either to the fact that we are ultra-efficient and have already done everything, or to the fact that the President wanted to play pool more than he wanted to chair a meeting. One or the other.

1) Minutes for approval
Approved

2) Treasurer's report
Nothing to report.

3) Societies Syndicate
It is believed that Dr Greaves is on holiday and so cannot be contacted at the moment. The Committee presumes that he will return by the start of term as he won't be able to supervise if he's not here. Anyway, Angela Myers of the Societies Syndicate is on holiday too. We will continue to pursue the matter.

Baz stated that he would like his money back PDQ. He claims to be broke. Not that it has stopped him buying 4 albums today...and indeed most days. Elizabeth said that she was so broke that she was now reduced to buying Cinderella albums.

4) WUS publicity
Elizabeth distributed about 1000 flyers for WUS to members so that they can importune members of the public to go to WUS. This flyer is Elizabeth's update of Emma's original; Emma's update is better. Emma will mail Elizabeth the correct version for future printings.

ACTION: Emma to mail the flyer to Elizabeth

5) Freshers' week
We need some flyers to hand to people at the Societies Fair. These should list the dates of RockSoc meetings and events, plus a few words about who we are. Emma will bring proofs of these to the next meeting. Baz said that these need to be black and white with the emphasis on white.

Baz has volunteered to man the stall continuously for the entire Fair (clearly a man who doesn't need to piss). Others can turn up to help as they like. This usually works for everyone else.

ACTION: Emma to make a flyer for the Societies Fair

6) 19th October gig
The agent is importuning us again for the remaining details. Emma will send him these.

ACTION: Emma to give details to an agent

7) Termcards
Emma has seen the proofs. They re fine. Next week we should have 300 term cards so for once they will go to members _before_ the start of term rather than in 4th week.

8) Webshite
Web ossifer not present. No problems reported.

9) We abhor:
Supernal music who keep mailing short text passages as 500k graphics files. Baz also abhors labels who won't stop sending him offensive Nazi propaganda in Estonian, and a company that once thought it would be amusing to send him 666 copies of the same e-mail.

Everyone except Elizabeth continues to abhor Cambus.

Oliver and Emma abhor the general public on the grounds that they are bloody morons. Elizabeth agrees that the part of the general population aged 11-16 are general morons but ahs limited experience of the rest.

Richard apparently abhors CCC 3.1's lack of any effective C++ optimization. He often abhors odd things and we have learned to ignore him.

We also abhor the rhinovirus which kept many people from attending Oliver and Kit's wedding reception.

Emma abhors deafness on the part of the Secretary

We adore
Well I adore Cambus because they have recently shown a hitherto unsuspected ability to cause buses to run at times related to those appearing on the timetable.

Oliver and Kit adore people who came to their wedding reception.

Oliver adores booze for the 7th year running. Elizabeth has adored it for at least twice that long.

Emma wants to repeat that she likes bats

And proto-geekery.

10) AOB
Emma read the back of a packet of guitar strings with great interest.

Elizabeth suggested a book on the odds of Michael Schenker actually turning up at the Corn Exchange next month. Baz said that this was not official RockSoc business and closed the meeting quick before anyone thought of anything that needed doing.
