Rocksoc minutes: Thursday 15 May 2003
Index of all minutes | Committee Meetings 2003-2004
Minutes, Thursday 15th May 2003.
================================
Meeting started: 8:32pm.
Present: Everyone.
Agenda:
Minutes.
Finance.
Mandate.
WUS.
Gigs.
Wacken.
Flier Archive.
Next week's committee meeting.
1) Minutes:
I don't think anything was said on these, perhaps they were, but I simply
did not care to listen...apologies for my incompetence yet again.
2) Finance:
WUS takings are going into the bank tomorrow; why these were not done last
week, is probably due to the fact that someone is almost as incompetent as
myself.
Emma is owed £48-50 for stuff. This was paid. (Forgive me; I have nothing
scathing to say on this subject).
The situation discussed at last weeks meeting on the cross-faders at the
Kambar has been resolved. The decks appeared to fix themselves.
The cost of the term card printing was significantly less than the term
cards last year...use these printers next year.
3) Mandate:
Action: Catherine to go to HSBC with passport and proof of address to sign.
Then to confirm with them that all have signed.
Sorry for the delay on this, I could not find an HSBC in Egypt. This will be
done before our constructive meeting next week at the beer festival.
4) Gigs:
18th May: NOT HAPPENING, for the following reasons:
Man on the Moon failed to publicize, and in fact told one of the bands that
there was no gig.
D-Void pulled out...I am in the process of finding out what went wrong with
this band.
Action: Emma to inform the venue that they are "*****", and that we are
therefore not paying them. Well actually, she said she was going to "send
them a Mexican dancing radioactive cockroach"
Me being the dull ******** that I am do not feel the need to write these in
the minutes, but hey, I'm the ******** slave, and will do anything just to
keep them happy. Anyone for a blowjob, whilst I'm in a generous mood?
21st November: Gig at the Boatrace. One band lined up thus far: Skelliga.
I've been to their website, and what would you know..."goth", well "trip
goth"...sounds like fun. Here is a quote from their website.
"Skelliga is a place to express my ideas in a beautiful environment with
people who know what I mean. It is a place to express my emotions joyfully
with creative individuals I can trust, a place I can get those feelings I
don't get anywhere else".
Bring your tambourines and ropes.
And an even better quote:
"To me Skelliga is:
A rocky outcrop in the ring of Kerry.
Not being in a Christian rock band.
The chance to express the things I cannot say.
To be lost in the moment and found in the soul.
It means Celtic-Cyber Punk'n'Bass.
Dulcimers, samplers, violins and crunchy guitars."
So, this is a Christian, goth, trip band.
What do you get if you cross a Christian with a goth?
May Brawl:
Dragonforce (not a goth band, hoorah) and Krimson have both been contacted
to ask if they are interested.
5) WUS:
Door sheets still missing. Nothing resolved!
6) Wacken:
Flights have been booked for those going.
7) Flier Archive:
Elizabeth has archived the old fliers and presented them to the committee.
8) Next weeks Committee meeting:
Change of venue, to the beer festival. My guess is that this may not be the
most constructive committee meeting, and I may as well start writing the
minutes for this right now.
Action: Catherine...BECAUSE I AM THE SECRETARY, is to post this onto RockSoc
announce. DONE.
9) Any other business:
All committee members are to go to the "contacts" section on the website, to
fill in their details. I tried that, but due to my inadequacies, I failed.
Oli wants us to "touch and feel him". Now does not that make the minutes
much more readable? Actually, I think I will read the minutes all over
again, now that I have seen the error of my ways.
Swimming trip: Monday 19th May.
Unfortunately, this is not the nudist night, but hey, if you want to get
naked, there is always my place.
We (the royal we) are meeting at Parkside, at 6.30, for 7.
Emma says she can be there for 5.10pm, so if you get there early, you can
warm-up together.
Other mindless stuff was mentioned, but I cannot be arsed to type it, it was
all irrelevant.
Meeting closed: 9:10pm, thankfully.
Recommendations:
Funnily, the meeting was so bloody miserable, no one thought about
recommendations. Not to worry, I did.
I recommend: Back Street Boys.
Love, the secretary.
