Minutes of committee meeting, 19/04/04

Meeting opened at 9.00pm

Present: Richard, Baz, Keith, Elise.

1. Minutes of previous meeting
Minutes approved

2. Treasurers report.
£112 was paid to Elise for termcards and stamps.
The balance is now £1207.38
We have a mandate, and everyone signed it.

The bank requires that the following resolution be entered in the minutes:

" We certify that the following resolutions were passed at a meeting of the Committee
of RockSoc held on 10th April 2003 and have been entered in the minute book

i) that a bank account or accounts be continued with HSBC Bank PLC ("the bank") and the
Bank is authorized to:

a) pay all cheques and other instructions for payment signed on behalf of the Society
by any two of the President, the Secretary, the Ents officer and the
Treasurer ("the signatories") whether any account of the Society is in debit or credit;

b) deliver any item held on behalf of the Society by the bank in safekeeping against the
written receipt of the signatories; and

c) accept the signatories as fully empowered to act on behalf of the Society in any other
transactions with the bank

ii) That any debt incurred to the bank under this mandate shall, in the absence of written
agreement by the bank to the contrary, be repayable on demand.

iii) That the Secretary is authorized to supply the bank as and when necessary with lists of
persons who are authorized to sign, give receipts and act on behalf of the Society, and that
the bank may rely upon such lists.

iv) That these resolutions remain in force until cancelled by notice in writing to the bank,
signed by the chairman or Secretary acting or claiming to act on behalf of the Society, and the
bank shall be entitled to act on such notice whether the resolutions have been validly
cancelled or not.

Action: Baz to take mandate in to bank.

3. Events
Gig on the 30th: MotM is now booked. Interlock and Gore haven't confirmed officially, but
they're pretty sure they can play. Interlock will be paid £100 + beer, Gore and support can
be offered a limit of £100 between them. Venue will cost £150.
May Brawl: Intense want £350 to headline. Will offer them £250 + half of any profits. Richard
to chase Kickback and Revcounter about supporting.
Trinity event: This is basically arranged. Keith to check about whether graduates can get in,
ask Taff about DJing.

Action: Keith.

4. Publicity
The Calling have suggested producing double sided colour flyers for WUS and the Calling. Elise
to email lists asking for designs. Also worth doing double A3 posters for both events, with
dates for this term. Richard to append details of CoN to next weeks WUS announcement.
Oli to draft flyer for the Student Rock Night and email to Keith.

Possibility of making CDs for freshers fair. Elise to find out costs of blank CDs, etc.
Then need list of bands to contact and ask to donate tracks. Start with anyone who's played
for us over past couple of years. Sticks of Rocksoc Rock - can get 1000 small sticks for £160.

Action: Richard add CoN info to WUS mail, Oli draft flyer, Elise email announce asking
for a desing and find out costs for CDs

5. Webshite
Events need updating. Richard to contact Briggsy about setting up role-based email
addresses

Action: Oli to update events, Richard to chase Briggsy.

6. Survey
Elise still hasn't sorted this out. She promised to get off her arse and do something
about it after Whitby.

Action: Elise.

7. AOB
Oli had something to bring up, but he couldn't remember what it was, and we decided to
move on before he remembered so we could all get pissed.

8. Adoration & abhorration
The committee adores:
Rush, Disciplin, beer, blue cheese, and port
The committee abhors:
The bat society, cycling in the rain, abject poverty, closing time and disorganised people.
There was also a joint abbhoring of whiny ex-girlfriends, which was agreed upon by most of the
committee and some random passers by
