RockSoc Minutes 08-05-06

Meeting started at 21:27

Members present: Simon, Nick, Gemma, Nick J (later). Also Baz and Iain.

Events

The Ephel Duath gig lost the price of a pint of beer from some North-South equilibrium pub possibly in the Midlands. In other words, £1.82. A new RockSoc record gate of 100 paying punters was made.

Hopes are now high for the May Brawl at the very least equalling this success.

Monsters of Rock trip brought up. It was agreed that RockSoc would not pay for the minibus (if enough people go the cost can be spread) but that we would publicise it on the webshite and LJ community and hassle people to go.

A festival in Peterborough that seemed good pickings for a RockSoc trip was dismissed as it has now been moved to Birmingham and the ticket price raised.

WUS and May Brawl publicity need to be done – copy the Gothsoc 80’s night publicity tactics.

Dates need sorting out for the RockSoc Picnic and Punt Trip. Suggested ones are Saturday and early May Week.

The GothSoc once challenged the RockSoc to a drinking competition – 3 champions from each society battling it out. We say bring it on as they’re all a bunch of lightweights!

WUS

Financial Discrepancy – Doorsheet indicates a profit of roughly £21. The WUS Box however countains about £92.50 profit. Possibilities are that Richard provided a float for the last WUS but forgot to record it in the blue book or that Doree’s kittens somehow managed to change the book entries.

DJs are all sorted apart from the last slot. “Random German Crap” is deemed acceptable as a set description. 3rd set will be Paul from Church of Noise playing commercial metal.

Action: Simon to webshite the DJ list.

Finances

(If everything is accepted by Monday) The Mandate form is now updated with the new committee for the first time in 2 years!

Keith has declared 2 chequebooks and Nick J a paying in book. Therefore the chequebook situation should be tolerable when the 2 new ones are picked up from the bank.

Action: Nick J to check that HSBC have approved the mandate and to collect the chequebooks on Monday afternoon.

Admin

Ben Herriman is either a very naughty boy or a much maligned one as Gemma cannot locate him in any of the secretarial paperwork.

Minutes need writing up!

There wasn’t a suitable pen in the box to write the membership cards.

A suitable photo of Gemma was taken at the Ephel Duath gig for the webshite and needs to be stolen off Cat.

Need to ascertain whether sending minutes round on announce is the best idea – send a poll out on announce with a link to the minutes.
