Annual Fresher's pub crawl

at The Regal (Wetherspoons)

Because it's a Saturday, we have a slightly different route in mind than normal (and no lectures the next morning!)...

Most of us will be meeting in The Regal (Wetherspoons) at 6pm specifically to get food (beer and burger! woo!) before things get hectic. Gives us a good communal starting point and a way to line our stomachs before the night of heavy drinking!

At 7:30 to 8pm we will be moving a couple of doors along towards the train station to The Fountain Inn roughly coinciding with The Regal getting rammed! From there the route will be:

The Avery
Clarendon Arms
The Elm Tree
The Cricketers
The Free Press
The Tram Depot
The Man On The Moon

(we may miss out some of the middle pubs!)

If you want to join the route later, call Rich Miller on 07506416786 or Andy Towler on 07515505991 and they'll (somewhat drunkenly) let you know where we are and/or come find you!

There is a great website: www.cambridgepubs.co.uk That shows the pubs in a tube-map style. We're starting at the top of "yellow", cutting across Parkers Piece and finishing on "Blue" if you're interested!

17th Oct.

Church of Noise

at Cherry Cons Club

PLUS LIVE BAND: JACK THE RIFFER Cambridge’s rock and metal night The Church of Noise looks set to celebrate Halloween in style with a one-off Halloween fancy dress special on Saturday 31 October. The Church of Noise has, since 2003, been catering for fans of classic rock and metal in the city with a night of music aimed squarely at those who like their music turned up to 11. Previous nights have seen everything from guest appearances from rock bands (including Therapy?, Trivium, Funeral For A Friend, Thunder and more) to live music nights and even their legendary heavy metal karaoke night. The Halloween night though promises to be most memorable of all with a door policy that will see customers in Halloween fancy dress charged half price entry and a musical policy that will range from the very best in classic rock and metal via of course the ultimate horror themed rock tracks of the last three decades. As well as live DJs, the night will also feature live Halloween music from Zombie rock band Jack the Riffer, with rumours abound that the act in question are actually a well known local rock band playing under a pseudonym, complete with added guts and gore. Taking place at the club night’s new home of the Cherry Cons Club, Cambridge, a large venue with discounted drink prices and large outdoor smoking area, the club will run well past the witching hour with a license to rock til 2am. Halloween just got one louder!

The Luchagors (feat: ex WWE Superstar Lita), Tear Down the Cockpit Doors, The Hope, MC Ipod

at The Portland Arms

992: An elbow to the head doesn't stop Amy Dumas. Wearing combat boots and a 7 Seconds T-shirt that's seen better days, she holds her own in the mosh pit. 'Something', one of her favorite bands, provides the soundtrack.

Fast forward 15 years later. Today, Dumas, a four-time WWE Women's Champ known to zillions of wrestling fans as Lita, knows a lot about elbows to the head. Maybe too much. So she's hanging up the wrestling boots and trading the ring for her other passion: Punk Rock.

Visiting Cambridge on their second UK tour, take the opportunity to see them in an intimate setting and be suplexed into submission with support from The Hope, newcomers to the ring, Tear Down the Cockpit Doors and MC Ipod

Rocksoc on Tour (Pub meet)

at TBC

Pub meets are a great opportunity to meet up, relax and chat over a drink. Every other week the pub meet is held in a different pub, which is a great way to sample what Cambridge has to offer. (in the weeks in between the pub meet it is held at The King Street Run on King Street.)

Get ready for some serious guitar shredding! The UK rockers Dragonforce are gearing up for what is their biggest UK tour to date in support of fourth album Ultra Beatdown. The band’s live show is a must-see, with a million-miles-an-hour guitar playing that has seen the band’s songs become the ultimate tracks to master on the Guitar Hero game, a feature which has seen them make serious in roads into the U.S music market.
